60 million homes in the United States are
under-insulated. Don’t let yours be one of them.
Are you tired of rising utility bills and wish you could do something about it? The most cost efficient thing you can do is to insulate your attic.
The new recommendations from the U.S. Department of Energy indicate that homes in our area should have attic insulation values of R49. Current building codes only require R38, so even new homes can be under insulated. Your attic should have about 18″ of blown fiberglass, 16″ of rolled fiberglass, or 14″ of cellulose insulation to be adequately insulated. Some insulation manufacturers speculate that as much as 30% of a home’s energy costs can escape through an improperly insulated attic. Brothers Services can insulate your home.

Upgrading Your Attic Insulation
Insulating your attic is a great way to reduce energy bills by lowering heating and cooling costs for your home.
While all homes have some level of attic insulation, adding additional “blown” or “loose fill” insulation to your attic is the easiest and most cost-effective way to improve energy loss. A good blown insulation product will not settle, maintaining the same energy-saving level over time and keeping your home comfortable for years to come.
Blown-in insulation is much more airtight than standard insulation that comes in the form of rolled batting. The blown material is smaller and able to get into tiny cracks and crevices of your attic, where air typically leaks through. This versatile material can fill in any space in your attic — around beams, pipes, and other uniquely shaped objects and spaces.
